October 6th

Jason was hating hanging down stairs for me. So one day I was complaining about it and Brett made me this wonderful work station upstairs. He really is a handy man to have around.

Brett's Projects

Brett had Hawaiian shirt day at work last week. I joked about him making his own, and he decided that was a GREAT idea!
The big boss lady came up to him at work and said, "So I heard you made that shirt yourself?" Brett of course replied that he did. Looking a little stunned, she looked at him and asked, "What else do you make?" Brett replied, "Well I made the chocolate fudge for the ice cream bar."

Soccer Rebounder

Brett saw something very similar to this on You-tube and of course Brett being Brett decided he could make it. It is AWESOME! I could play with this thing for hours! Hopefully Duncan will too, because I think it will help with his kick a lot!

Saturday

Today started out shopping as usual. Saturday is for the most part, grocery shopping day. Brett picked up some supplies for the Labor Day, Labor. First we got a motion sensor for the basement bathroom. The kids never turn off the lights so we figured this would help our electric bill. This is his, "Are you really going to take my picture in the bathroom?" face.
Brett picked up some paint stripper and started working on his car.
Look how absolutely awesome this is. I know, probably not very healthy, but dang cool!!

The trunk is now stripped down to bare metal. Nice!!!
While I was out helping Duncan move the tramp, I saw this. It's gotta be a mole hill right???

Than in the midst of the day I decided to update my blog. I saw a friend of mine's blog and she had found some counter paint! Yes!!! We ran over to Home Depot and I picked some up. $20.00. After dinner I asked Brett to move the fridge and stove and got to work. Yes, I Painted it!!! I really wanted to do something this weekend. Brett always does all the home improvement stuff and I feel guilty.

Before.

AFTER!!!!!!!!! Not to shabby! I'll take another picture in the morning after it is completely dry!

Duncan and Brett

We bought this lovely car from my parents. It was my Great-Uncle Eldons. My Dad couldn't stand having it in his driveway anymore, so we figured we'd take it and Brett and Duncan can have a project.

Yes, Brett is going to paint and detail this car. I will take pictures every now and then. Duncan gets to help pimp it out. Truth to tell, when I advised Duncan that we would turn the car over to him when he was 16 he wasn't very excited. But, when Brett started telling him all the cool things they could do with it, Duncan get very excited. So they are going to have an ongoing project for a while. =)

This Weekend

Saturday started out with Brett rising early and fixing the leak in the sprinklers.
He did a fantastic job and it's fixed. The hole is still not filled in, that will be the next "I'm bored"/X-box minutes project. Unless Brett gets to it first.
Duncan now has a partner in all his projects. Duncan gets things done, Curtis benefits. Actually, if I asked Curtis to go fill the hole just because he like me, he probably would.
The girls Braille teacher stopped by to give them some summer homework. It's pretty simple, and she will give them candy if they complete it. One of the "assignments" is sorting the laundry for Mom. I thought I'd make it as easy as possible. There should be no mix-ups now.
Then we got to go out to Traci and John's again for our Nephews 1st Birthday. They bought this lovely slide and the kids had a ball. It was cool enough, that even Jason started to shiver. Tori was the only one that stayed in the water the whole time.
Just a side note. My Mother over heard Traci's older nieces asking who the boy with his shirt off was. They thought he was cute. =(

Played a little volley ball
Watched the Birthday Boy devour his cake. I love his big brown eyes!
Jason was eating and playing the whole time! He was quite fun!

Saturday

Brett got up on the roof pretty early on Saturday. It's time for the swamp cooler to be turned on. The nice thing was, he only had to buy a new belt. Most of the time, it's a new pump or motor or something. Winter can be hard on the swamp cooler.

We have a sweet family in our neighborhood that had a fund raiser yard sale. They had all sorts of goodies, so I sent the kids up to buy some. They had a clown there, and Sam told them her birthday was soon, so he made her this awesome hat!
After Brett got off the roof, he started on the fire pit again.
I think this was the only time that Brett laid down all day. He didn't stop moving until it was dark outside.
We picked up some paver's from my sister Kristen's house. She is moving and doesn't want to bring these with her. We'll make a patio around the fire-pit. It will probably not be too huge but it will be fun.
Here is the finished fire-pit and our soon to be garden. They got it leveled and all the dirt turned over. Jake has access to a bunch of nice top-soil, so we'll get some of that soon. Then the Stahle's have a farm so we can get some manure from them. We'll have to get both of these done soon because planting season is almost 1/2 over.
We roasted marshmallows in the new fire-pit. It was a lot of fun, and the kids are REALLY excited about this summer.
Sam loves Marshmallows!
Duncan went to a leadership training for scouts her wore his shirt all day, and was proud of his Trained patch he gets to put on his uniform. At least when I finally think about it!
Duncan's Double Decker S'more.
Tori had to have one too.
Jason woke up at 3:00am and didn't go back to sleep until 5:30pm. He woke up while we were outside. He wasn't as thrilled about the S'mores as the other kids.
Samantha has learned how to flip. She's very proud of herself!!

Wednesday

Yesterday was Samantha's school celebration of her birthday. She told me she wanted to bring donuts. I forgot!! Until about 1:30pm. I ran to Dick's Market, which have the best glazed donuts in my opinion, and dropped off the donuts right as they were finishing up talking about what Samantha's favorite things were. She was VERY excited to see me.
I looked out my window about 4:00pm, and the awesome neighbor boys were working on getting the last stump out. Again, very sweet boys.
Brett is almost done with the fire pit. I'm excited to try it out. We will be able to grill on it as well as do dutch oven cooking or just plain roasting marshmallows. Hopefully we'll be able to do a lot of cooking outside this summer, since cooking inside always heats the house up so much!
Joel watched Jason draw the other day and thinks he is getting visual stimulation with his drawing. He's just to intricate in his drawing, as well as the fact that he will not draw without having his nose to the paper.
I gave Jason a bath yesterday and I got him out, put his diaper on and before I could blink he was running into the bathroom and head diving into the water. He's also figured out how to turn on the water. So I think he was in the tub about 7 times yesterday.
