Crazy

Well this last week has turned me a little crazy! The teacher I work for has given me the responsibility (or I've taken it) to have core curriculum lessons in the afternoon. So I have been doing a lot of research and songs lately on some good things to do with the kids that goes along with the lessons in the core lessons. I've found a lot of silly songs to sing, and then I've been trying to figure out how to teach and have non-communicative children respond. It's been a lot of fun......

I'm enjoying it so far, and I feel like I'm being led to my profession.

I'm going to meet with a district person to see what kind of things I will need to do to become a teacher when I grow up. I'm not sure if I will be able to put my time into classes right now, but I might be starting school again sometime in the near future. WEIRD!!!

Pizza

Wednesday I made Pizza for dinner. Well.......Grandma and Grandpa made it, I just threw it together. Jason wanted another orange, which he can eat about 10 a day. Brett told him he didn't need another orange and that Mom was making him some Pizza for dinner. He immediately climbed onto a chair at the table. I had finished baking one and it was on top of the stove. He looked over and said, "Pizza". I know it wasn't my imagination, Brett heard it too. We couldn't get him to say it again but he said it!!!!!!!

Good, Better, Best

Yesterday was crazy!!!! Brett's back is hurting him something fierce. He is struggling because his hip and lower back muscles are cramping because of the intense work out we've been doing. He went to the doctor to see what he needs to do to make this better. That started our day at 8:30am. I ran Jason to school and then went back to the doctor to pick up Brett. He will be starting some physical therapy, but has not been restricted from going to the gym. He just needs to lighten up on the squats and lunges for a while.

Then I came home and recorded a song on Tori's Ipod for my school class. The kids LOVE music and it does me good as well. I have an old speaker of my brothers that I bought an adapter for so that I can plug the Ipod into and then my kids that are hard of hearing can also hear or feel the music as necessary. Then of course as we sing we do the signs for them. It's a lot of fun, and I'm increasing my signing vocabulary by doing this.

My speaker adapter I noticed had broken so we ran over to radio shack to pick another one up, and then had to get Samantha to go to the Dentist. Brett dropped us off and then went to go get Jason. As Samantha and I walked into the office she said, "Hi you don't have an appointment today."

Nice.........

So I rescheduled the appointment that was set for the next day so that I wouldn't have to worry about getting a sub, and started walking down the street while calling Brett to have him come back and get us. I ran to my in-laws to pick up some pictures I'd taken of my school kids in there George Washington Hat and then ran back to school!!!

In the middle of everything a district person showed up to talk to my teacher, and let us know that one of our students would be transferring by the end of the week. I'll miss him, but I won't miss having to put him in time out every five minutes. So the day seemed to drag on forever. Then the signing specialist dropped by to give me some paperwork to work with one of the students in science. I'll be looking up science signs for the rest of forever!!! =)

Got home, and went to the gym...........

Now to the title of this post. I swear life can't get anymore chaotic. I feel guilty going to the gym, but I know how important it is for me and my family. I need to be able to keep up with Jason. But, what is good, better, and best???? Hmmmmm.........

This is going to be one of those things that is on my mind for a while. Dallin H. Oaks on of the 12 Apostles for my church gave a talk in 2007. It is used over, and over again in church so it is one that I'm becoming very familiar with. Here is the talk. It's a good read. We'll see if life mellows out any time soon.......

Achievement Days

Tori had Achievement Day's today, and they went ice skating. I dropped her off and helped her on with her skates. Then of course I had to take some pictures while I was there.

She did pretty good! She said she went around 13 times and only fell down once. Of course she slammed down on her wrist, so she has had some Ibuprofen.

And to make the time more enjoyable, they got to skate with Grizz.......=)

Thanks Kelli and Amber, she had sooooo much fun!!!!

Jason is Getting it!

Everyday at Preschool Jason has to write his name and then does a tracing work sheet. He traced the "J" all by himself today!!!!! He seems to be understanding a little more everyday.

Presidents Day

Since it was Presidents Day yesterday we are doing a craft today at school. My teacher asked me to get together a craft because she won't be there today. So here is what I came up with!

The "brim" is actually a plate and the top is open. I think we'll fill it with a few things.
This looked pretty boring so I added the yarn.
Kind of cute for a 10 minute project.

Jason loves his Daddy

Brett's hips are rebelling against the amount of exercise we've been doing. His back, is killing him! So he made a nice roller to massage the tightness out of his hips, and was using it on the kitchen floor. This is what Jason did as soon as he saw his Dad.

More evaluations

Jason had another evaluation on Thursday. I really wish this would finish up and I wouldn't have to worry about these appointments. But the hope is that we are able to help Jason the way he needs.

So ADOS test down, who knows how many more to go.....

Symphony

Yesterday was a crazy day. Tori wanted me to go on her field trip with her, so we had a great time at the Symphony. I had Tori's IPod in my pocket so I was able to take some pictures. Duncan is in a split class so he also got to go on the 5th grade field trip. I have some pretty sweet kids!!!!

Cavities

Well, this weekend I noticed something wonderful. Jason has a huge hole in his tooth. It's so big that as he was throwing a temper tantrum, I saw it.

I had to get a sub today, and take him to the Dentist. The beautiful thing is, he will not be able to get his fillings until the 15th of March. The dentist would like to keep her fingers, so he will be put under for this lovely procedure. She did get a good look at his mouth, and she said it should be ok until the day of the procedure.

I'm going to try and piggy-back an ABR onto since it will be at the same hospital that we had the original done at. Since he'll be asleep anyway, we might as well see what he can hear. Cross your fingers that I can get that added. I think it will be a huge blessing to know a little more about my baby boy!

Warm!!!

This week has been so nice! It's supposed to snow again on Thursday but for the moment the kids and I are enjoying every minute of it!!!

Funny!

I dropped the kids off at home and then went to pick up Jason. I got a phone call from Duncan. "Mom, I'm sitting on the toilet and the girls are arguing about who is going to get me. Toilet paper." so Instead of asking how he got the phone, I advised him to make sure there is toilet paper in the bathroom before he sits down. Secondly, to tell the girls to stop fighting and if he was still sitting on the pot when I got home the girls would both be grounded.

Quite the conversation.........:)

Grades

There is so much happening right now, I'm having a hard time keeping up.

The kids got their grades, and they are doing well.

Samantha's teacher is going to start actually giving homework. She doing well, and her teacher just adores her.

Tori's doing really well. She improved in all her grades, at least 1/2 a grade.

Duncan would be doing well if he finished all his work. We are currently working on this, and I have advised him if he doesn't have homework for a week I'll be contacting his teacher to make sure he's not blowing it off again.

We are busy as ever, and I swear the world will not be slowing down anytime soon!!!!

PECS

We went through the parents PECS training last night. It was quite enlightening. We are going to try this system at home and see if it will help alleviate some of Jason's stress. If you are interested in the program they have a website.

PECS.com

I also see some benefits with working with the kids at school. I'm going to have to bring this up with my Teacher.

Craziness

My house has been insane lately. I'm wondering how to get my kids to be respectful to each other? They are always bickering and fighting. If one is being nice the other isn't. I swear they hate each other!

They are constantly picking on each other, and trying to make the other feel bad. I can't depend on any of them to get along.

I'm convinced Duncan and Tori are HORMONAL. They CANNOT look at each other without wanting to bite the others head off.

Samantha on the other hand, is just an emotional psycho! If she isn't teasing, she's crying.

Then of course Jason is Jason. Today he didn't want to go to Primary so he hit a little girl and then started smacking himself. He threw himself on the floor and banged his head and kicked his feet. Brett decided enough was enough and took him home.

What am I doing wrong!!! Why won't my family SETTLE DOWN???

Any suggestions????????

Help? =)
