Tori made me Giggle

Tori called me after she was supposed to be asleep this evening.

Tori: "Mom, there is something weird with my eyes!"

Me: "What's up?" (just a little panicked!!)

Tori: "When my contact is out the other eye seems like I'm wearing my glasses."

That made my day!!! I couldn't stop giggling from shear excitement.

Me: "Come here Tori, explain that again?"

Tori: "When I was reading just now, it was really weird because I felt like I was wearing my glasses, but I'm not!"

So I had to explain what I've been trying to explain for the past few months, over and over again. Her vision will be awesome in her one eye! She has never had good vision, she does not know what that means!! Hallelujah for modern medicine!!!!

Conference Sunday

I'm really not sure how I got such a little spiritual giant. Last Sunday Duncan was actually listening to the announcements in sacrament meeting and heard that the bishopric had tickets still available for conference. He leaned over and said, "Mom, I want to go to Conference." Me being my wonderful self said, "Sure, Duncan." I figured he'd forget by the end of the meeting and we'd all go home and not worry about that. Oh no!! Duncan remembered what he wanted and ran over to the Bishops office and picked up 2 tickets to Conference. "Dad! We're going to Conference."

Brett and Duncan went to the first session this morning and to my amazement Duncan was a good boy and even took notes of what the speakers spoke on. CRAZY!!! I'm not sure how I'm supposed to raise this boy. He's too good for me! =)

Tori update

I took Tori to the eye doctor this morning. Boy was that a lot of fun. Samantha and Jason had to come with so that alone made the journey 10 times harder. We got to the eye doctor about 8:15 am and had the dirty looks start from the old people. They just love seeing a bunch of kids show up to the doctor with there mother. They automatically assume that I am the one with the appointment. Jason had a stinky diaper so I said, "Tori listen for your name, I've got to go and change your brother." Then all the old people settled down a bit. We waited a while trying to subdue the whirlwind that is Jason.

Finally they called Tori's name and we were off to the back. They gave her eye drops, tested the pressure (which she hates by the way), and they checked her vision. Right now she is seeing about 20/50 without her glasses. This is awesome! Dr. Bernstein came in very quickly. He had to catch a plane to Chicago. He looked at her retina's they look fabulous and then said it was time to remove the stitch that was in her eye.

Tori has been dreading this all week. She started freaking out, she actually said a quick prayer in the chair. They had to get all the stuff together that they would need so she had to wait a few minutes. I took Jason and Samantha out in the hall to do a little walking while she waited and she looked terrified. I made her come out with me so I could hold her while we walked.

Dr. Bernstein came back in and the time had arrived. They numbed her eyes really well and then said "OK, we are going to put this in your eye so that you can't blink. Then I'm going to take this poky thing and clip the stitch that's in your eye. Then I'm going to take these poky tweezers and pull out the stitch." OK not exactly that wording but close. She flipped. I had to take her by the back of the neck and push her into the chin rest. The doctor offered to let the nurses do this, but I know how tough my girl is. She strong, and they would try to be too nice, and it would just scare her more because it would take longer. He put the bracer in and she flipped some more. She wouldn't stop trying to close her eye so eventually the bracer was trying to make her eye wider instead of taller. She sat still even though she was terrified. She kept herself as calm as she could and all is well, the stitch is out. The only thing that even remotely went wrong is that her eye is sore form the bracer stretching her eye the wrong way.

We have another appointment in three weeks. Then we will probably set another appointment to laser the artificial lens so that she will be able to see 20/20. Yay!!! Hopefully there will be no more trauma!!!

Wednesday.....

Tori's doing AWESOME! She hasn't complained once about anything. I can barely keep her under wraps. She has been go, go, going since Saturday, two days after her surgery. If it were me I think I would still be on the couch. She's been trying to deal with her contact by herself but has yet to be completely successful. She'll keep at it though until she's got it, she takes after her mother and is a bit stubborn. I have another appointment tomorrow with Dr. Bernstein so I'll update you then.(Sorry about the crappy picture from my phone.)

Wednesday's are always the day to keep moving and not stop until the head hits the pillow. With the new office manager and being payroll yesterday I had a hard time doing anything but work. Jason has a rash on his bum that won't go away so he needed so Medicine and Samantha needed a treat for Kindergarten so we had to run to Walgreens and pick up some supplies. She was supposed to bring something that started with "E". I found some awesome chocolate covered marshmellow eggs in an egg carton and everything, 99cents!!! I got them home and on the side was a big allergy warning. Samantha has a girl in her class that is deathly allergic to peanuts, so I had to find something else. I had to run back to the store and get something else for her class. Then it was nap time and back to work. Tori had dance, Duncan had Karate, Brett had Karate. Then Dinner, bedtime, work.....Then I realized I forgot to fill out the paperwork for the girls Braille classes, so I had to do that. Bedtime came too early, but yet not early enough. Oh well. The weekend is coming right?

Mommy Pains

Yesterday was one of those days. Nothing really went wrong, but it just was a nutsy day.

Jason spent the previous day at my bosses house with his wife so that we could get our "office" up and going. He didn't get a nap so he fell asleep at 5:00 pm and didn't wake up until the next day. I was sitting down at my desk yesterday morning and the reminder popped up that it was time for Jason's Well Check....huh? I had to call and double check because I didn't remember this appointment. My boy is huge but not as big as my first 2. He is 97% all over, height, weight and head size. I had to make sure he got a nap yesterday. My boss was upset with me because I spent the day at home, but I need to be taken care of the children. Needless to say he was still tired and was a bit of a trouble maker yesterday.

Samantha is my child that you would think had a hearing loss, instead of the baby. She never does what she is told. She also has already picked up on my guilt complex and knows how to make me feel bad. She, like all kindergarteners, wants mom to come help in class. I obviously am really busy with work right now so I had to tell her that I wouldn't be helping in class today about 20 times. Then she wanted me to come and watch her at dance class. I hate to do this because Jason is so bad when we go there that I might as well have stayed home. However, I went ahead and "watched" her dance. She has learned quite a bit this year.

Tori is doing AWESOME! She never skipped a beat. I had to contain her for 1 more day and you would have thought I was torturing the poor child. She is enjoying her new contact and told me last night that everything is quite clear. She still couldn't read smaller things but she is doing really good!

Duncan is my child of no problems so he is my boy who needs a lot of attention. He has started doing tricks on his bicycle so he's been calling me outside every 10 minutes to check out his new trick.

Well, as I've typed it out yesterday didn't seem like that big of a deal but with work included it just kind of was an overwhelming day. Maybe today will be better!!!!

First day in the "office"

My boss has decided it's time to get an office. The funny thing is it's in his previous house he was unable to sell a block away from my house. We hired an office manager who is going to work out of said house until we decide we don't have room for anymore people in the house. I'll still be working from home. I can't leave my kids, until maybe Jason is in school and then it has to be flexible enough that if any of the kids call me with a medical trauma that I can be there immediately. I guess I'll be working for Joe for a long time. Unless of course my husband gets a huge raise? Probably not.

There are huge benefits in working for the state. But there are also disadvantages as well. Great benefits, lovely retirement, pretty much set wages. Oh well, life goes on.

A Case of the Mondays

I really hate Mondays! I swear I have a panic attack every week, Sunday night before I go to bed. I miss my hubby and the help he provides. I hate that the work week has started and I'm going to get nasty phone calls from everyone under the sun! I hope for the day when my hubby makes enough money that all I have to worry about is keeping my family and myself happy!!!! I don't think it will ever happen really, but one can dream!

Now that I've done my complaining, bring it on!!!!
