Tori Update

We went to see Dr. Bernstein today and everything is FINE! *sigh* =)

It took three doctors, but at least we know who's "the man"!

He told us that sometimes with the artificial lens, espiecially during the later hours of the day, the light will reflect funny off the lens and cause colors and shapes to appear. Makes sense to me!!! I also asked him about the darker color spot on retina, and he said that it wasn't a concern it's just a pigmentation change. So all is well!! No worries!!!

Last night and today

Yesterday about 7:00 pm Tori ran into the house and told Brett that something weird was going on with her eye. I was out buying dinner so when I got home I walked in the door to this.

"Mom, I think I'm having another Retinal Detachment."

So I asked her what she was seeing, and she said she was seeing some colors, and there was a blurry spot. So off to the ER we went. This time we had a pretty "quick" trip. We got there they tested her vision, and the NP came into talk to us. They immediately called the on call Opthalmologist and he came really quite quickly.

I recognized him. I'm happy about this, but also sad about this. I've been to the Moran Eye Center with Tori enough that I actually recognize the Residents.

Dr Wong said that he new her name and came right out. He has actually looked at her eyes in the office. He said, "If you ever have an on-call refuse to come out and see her, you let the person you are speaking through know that Dr. Bernstein would be very upset if they didn't come and check her out." I LOVE Dr. Bernstein!!!!!

He gave her a quite thorough exam and said he found something but wasn't sure what it is. Her retina's are OK, but he wasn't sure what the problem was. So he set up an appointment with Dr. Ronan for this morning.

We went out to the Moran this morning and saw Dr. Ronan. He did the questions himself, since the place was deserted. My baby is so smart!! She answered all the questions but maybe 2. She has listened to everything, and knows her own situtation. She isn't afraid to talk to the grown up doctors and tells them as much as she can.

Dr Ronan, again was very thourough. She has some discoloration on the macula of her retina. It's a darker spot then the rest, but there is no fluid building up behind the retina. He thinks her Retina is ok, but isn't as familiar with her eyes as Dr. Bernstein so he is going to consult with him about her eyes. I'm sure we will be in with Dr. Bernstein sometime this week. She needs to let me know if there is anything drastic that is changing in her vision, and I have the direct number for the on-call answering service.

I'll let you know if anything new comes up!!

Darn Kids, and Darn Cars!!

Jason is already starting with another ear infection. I took him to the doctor this morning and he is going to be back on an antibiotic this evening. I'm hoping that after this medicine he will at least make it to the appointment that I have with Dr. Muntz in June.

We also had to have the van fixed. Some dang manifold problem and it will cost us $489.09. YUK!!!!! Dang Van!!!!

Oh well, life goes on. I need my van, so it needs to get fixed. *sigh*

Jason's friend Paula

Paula came to our house again today. I was so excited to tell her about Jason's hearing aid! We did a little gig because he's finally wearing it. I received his ear mold on Friday and he has been wearing it for the most part all day, everyday. I'm hoping that he has finally realized the benefits. He is still a 19 month old and he still pulls it out. But he is not fighting when I put it back in and he really leaves it alone unless it is pulling funny on his ear.

Our new assignement is to work on an "Experience Book". Since this is blogging in baby form it shouldn't be to hard for me. We're supposed to help him make a book about his experiences, we will help him draw pictures and we will write down what the pictures mean. It should be fun!! I'm sure the rest of them will want to have an "Experience Book" of their own.

Jason is wearing his aid!!!!

As you can see he is wearing his hearing aid!!!! He is doing so well!!!!!! He does still take it out. But he is not fighting to put it back in. He only seems to take it out when it's pulling funny. He's made my day!!!!

Frustrated

I don't know what to do with this kid!! Jason is wearing me out!

I hope his hearing aid mold comes soon so at least I can feel like I'm trying to get him speaking.

He's hit the stage of frustrated baby. If he doesn't get what he wants he lays down on the ground and freaks out. If you are holding him he hits, bites, head butt's, tries to throw himself out of your arms. I don't know what to do with him. If I let him do what he wants he usually ends up ok. But then my house ends up a pile of Jason messes.

Oh well. Maybe someday he'll grow out of it.

UPDATE: I finally received Jason's hearing aid mold in the mail. I put it in his ear and expected a big fight, but no! He left it alone for a while, and then pulled it out. But as I went over to put it back in he tried to do it himself. =) I hope this is a good sign!!!!!

UPDATE 2: I think Jason wore his hearing aid for about 4 Hours!!!!! He took it out a lot but for the most part did not fight when we put it back in. He even rode in the car without taking it out!! I can't believe how excited I am by this. Maybe, just maybe, the boy will start talking. He's a good boy! He did really well today!!!!
